Our Tutors

Thrive Tutoring is a boutique service in Tennessee for one-on-one, in-home academic tutoring, academic intervention, and test preparation. We also offer advocacy/IEP support, homeschool teacher matching, and group classes.

We love our tutors!

Our work is rooted in relationships. We get to know our students and families on a personal level—we attend sporting events to cheer on our students, join our families for dinner, and stay after tutoring sessions from time to time to play a round of basketball in the driveway. It makes our day to receive texts with excitement about an awesome grade on a big test. We love celebrating your child’s success with you. The genuine relationships we build with our families have a lasting impact—in many cases, far beyond the time we tutor your child.

We do not use a cookie-cutter curriculum or a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching and learning. We start by assessing student learning needs and goals. Then, we develop lesson plans and tailor approach in order to meet the unique needs of each student.

We believe all children can excel academically, regardless of their unique learning needs, their current standing in school, or their socioeconomic status.

Our number one goal is to unlock your child’s potential and get results. We take that responsibility seriously and are consistently driving toward measurable academic results for all of our students.

We really do love teaching and our enthusiasm is infectious. It might sound obvious, but students learn best from teachers who are passionate about their work. We promise to go above and beyond to help your child become their best.

Meet our Tutors

Matt G.

High School, College
Math, Test Prep
Matt graduated from a liberal arts college in the northeast majoring in religious studies and history. After graduation, he worked as an SAT/ACT test prep tutor for an ivy-league focused tutoring company. After a few years of tutoring, he moved to Nashville to become a physics teacher, which he did for several years but realized that he missed the one-on-one environment too much. He left the classroom a few years ago in order to tutor with me and lead small group advanced math classes at an enrichment center outside of Nashville. Subject-wise, he's masterful at teaching almost every subject--he does a lot of math tutoring and test prep for ACT/SAT.

Nikki R.

Middle School, High School
Math, Test Prep
Nikki is a lifelong learner who has always had a passion for education. She graduated from UTC with degrees in applied mathematics and computer science. After working in the IT field as a sysadmin for several years, she decided to pursue her love for education and become a tutor. Working primarily with middle and high school students in math and ACT/SAT test prep, Nikki loves to help students build confidence and reach their academic goals! In her free time, Nikki loves to take ballet classes, cheer on the Preds, and play with her dog.

Trevor W.

Elementary, Middle School, High School
Math, Test Prep
Trevor earned his bachelor's degree in biblical studies and was on the path to serve in the ministry, but through various extracurricular involvements during college, he found a calling to the classroom. He joined Teach For America where he was placed teaching high school math in Nashville. While teaching, he earned his master's degree in instructional practice from Lipscomb University, and he's working toward a second master's degree right now in family counseling at Trevecca. He is a math whiz for K-12 through college. When he was in the classroom, he was a level 5 teacher, which is the highest level of teacher performance in TN based on driving student performance. In addition to tutoring students, he also tutors fellow math teachers to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
